How to Split a PDF Into Separate Pages or Parts
Updated October 9, 2026
You might need only chapter 3 of a long report, one signed page of a contract, or each invoice from a combined file as its own document. Splitting a PDF lets you do all of this in a minute.
Three ways to split a PDF
Open the Split PDF tool, choose your file, and pick one of these modes:
- Extract pages into one file. Type the pages you want, such as 1-3,5,8-10. You get one new PDF with only those pages.
- Separate file for each range. Type ranges such as 1-3,4-6,7-10. Each range becomes its own PDF, and you can download them all as one ZIP.
- Split every N pages. Enter a number, such as 2, to cut the document into parts of that size.
Step by step
- Choose your PDF. The preview card shows how many pages it has.
- Pick the mode and type the pages or the number.
- Press the button and wait for the result.
- Download the file, or press Download all as ZIP if there are several.

Frequently asked questions
How do I write page ranges? Use numbers separated by commas, and a dash for a range. For example, 2,4-6 means page 2 and pages 4 to 6.
Why do I get an error about the page range? The most common reason is a page number larger than the number of pages in the file. Check the page count on the preview card.
Does splitting reduce quality? No. Pages are copied exactly as they are.
